General Format
- 2 tasks to complete:
- Section A: Complete a news item (continue writing an article)
- Section B: Give an opinion with arguments on a societal issue
- Total Duration: 60 minutes
- Score: 0 to 699 points (CEFR level: A1 to C2)
- Format: Computer-based exam. No dictionaries or documents are allowed. Free navigation between the two tasks.
Section A – Complete a News Item
Objective:
Imagine the continuation of a short and original news article.
Produce a coherent, narrative text with new facts.
Instructions:
Read the beginning of a news story.
Write a minimum of 80 words to complete the story.
Do not copy the initial text.
Maintain a journalistic writing style.
What to do:
Continue the story logically
Provide new information
Conclude the article
Use temporal connectors (then, next, the following day, etc.)
Write clearly, precisely, and without errors
What the examiners assess:
Coherence of the narrative and adherence to the topic
Logical organization of ideas
Clarity of information
Language richness (vocabulary, verb conjugation, syntax)
Spelling accuracy
Section B – Express an Opinion
Objective:
- Respond to a societal question (e.g., education, work, environment)
- Clearly argue your point of view
Instructions:
- Read a statement from a newspaper
- Write a letter to the newspaper in reaction to this opinion
- Give at least 3 arguments
- Write a minimum of 200 words
What to do:
- Present your personal opinion
- Build a logical argument
- Use concrete examples
- Structure the text into paragraphs
- Use a formal tone appropriate for a newspaper audience

- Relevance of arguments
- Coherence of argumentative structure
- Language mastery (vocabulary, grammar, verb conjugation)
- Clarity of expression
